2 · Getting to the Circuit of the Americas

Austin-Bergstrom International Airport is the closest airport, and the circuit sits out in the country southeast of the city. There is no rail line to the track: fans arrive by car, by the circuit's own shuttle buses from downtown, or by ride-hailing to a dedicated pickup and drop off area.

Shuttle seats and parking passes are sold in advance through the circuit, and they are worth booking early. After the race, ride-hailing queues are long and prices surge; the shuttle back to downtown is usually the calmer option.

3 · Signal in a crowd this size

A sold-out weekend puts a very large number of phones around one circuit, and the busiest moments are the start, the finish and the end of the evening concert. Messages usually get through, while photo and video uploads queue.

5 · What to do around the race

Most fans stay downtown or on South Congress. The Texas State Capitol, the live music on Sixth Street and Rainey Street, Lady Bird Lake and Barton Springs Pool are all close to the centre, and Texas barbecue is part of the weekend for almost everyone.
