1 · The short answer
The Japanese Grand Prix runs from 9 to 11 April 2027 at Suzuka Circuit in Mie Prefecture, the figure of eight track with a famously devoted and costumed crowd. April is also cherry blossom season, so trains and hotels across Japan are busy.
Ringo Light's Japan plan covers Suzuka, Nagoya and the rest of Japan with unlimited data at full speed, which is handy in a country where so much runs through QR codes and apps.
Dates: Friday 9 to Sunday 11 April 2027, round 4 of the 2027 Formula 1 season. Organiser's page
Ringo Light's Japan plan covers the whole of Japan: unlimited data at full speed, 2 weeks for $26.99 or 30 days for $50.99, nothing renews. The plan is at ringoesim.com/japan, and every brand's price for Tokyo is compared on one day in Best eSIM for Tokyo.

2 · Getting to Suzuka
Nagoya is the base for most fans, with Chubu Centrair airport close by; Osaka's Kansai airport also works. From Nagoya, Kintetsu trains run to Shiroko station, where race weekend buses run to the circuit, and JR trains stop at Suzuka Circuit Inō station, a walk of around twenty minutes from the gates. Both get very crowded after the race.
Hotels in Suzuka itself sell out early, so many people stay in Nagoya, Yokkaichi or Tsu and commute. Save the timetables offline and know your last train.
3 · Signal in the grandstands
Japanese networks are strong, but the main grandstand and the stands at the esses fill completely, and phones queue for the same cells. Live video and photo uploads slow first. Save your e-ticket and the circuit map before you leave the hotel.
The station platforms after the race are the other crunch point: everyone checks train times at once. Look them up while you are still in your seat.
4 · Apps, tickets and paying
- ✓Official F1 app. Times, results and news; live timing needs an F1 TV subscription and data.
- ✓Tickets. Sold by Suzuka Circuit. Keep your ticket and any bus reservations offline.
- ✓IC cards. A Suica or ICOCA card in your phone wallet pays for trains, buses and convenience stores.
- ✓Paying. Cards and phone payments are now common, but keep some cash for small stalls.
5 · What to do around the race
Nagoya Castle and the city's food are close at hand, Ise Grand Shrine is about an hour south of Suzuka, and Kyoto is reachable for a blossom day by train via Nagoya.
6 · Around Suzuka
