Airalo vs Holafly in one paragraph

Airalo is cheaper than Holafly for Albania at every length, by cents on the short plans and by $27.90 on the month. Holafly gives you the simpler product: unlimited days with no stated daily cap, installed from a QR code with no app, on both Albanian networks, One Albania and Vodafone Albania. Airalo gives you more choice, buckets from 5 GB to 20 GB as well as unlimited, but its unlimited slows to 1 Mbps after 3 GB a day, it rides One Albania only, and you need its app. Pick Airalo if you want a bucket or the lowest price of the two. Pick Holafly if you want both networks and never want to think about a daily cap. If the trip is two weeks or a month and you want unlimited, neither is the cheapest: Ringo Light sells 2 weeks at $14.99 and 30 days at $33.99, unlimited data at full speed. For 3 days or a week, Ringo Light sells no plan of that length.

Price: the same trip at each

Priced on 25 October 2026, in US dollars, from each brand's own site. For 3 days of unlimited, Airalo asks $19.50 and Holafly $19.90. For a week, $35.50 at Airalo and $36.50 at Holafly. For 15 days, $57.50 at Airalo and $63.50 at Holafly. For 30 days, $98 at Airalo and $125.90 at Holafly. Airalo wins every row of the two, by under a dollar on the short plans, by $6 on 15 days and by $27.90 on the month.

Ringo Light sells two trips for Albania: 2 weeks at $14.99 and 30 days at $33.99. The 2 weeks costs about a quarter of Airalo's 15 days at $57.50 or Holafly's at $63.50. The 30 days costs about a third of Airalo's $98 and about a quarter of Holafly's $125.90. Ringo Light sells no 3-day or 7-day plan. For a week, its 2 weeks at $14.99 still costs less than Airalo's week at $35.50 or Holafly's at $36.50, with a week of days left over. For 3 days, Airalo at $19.50 and Holafly at $19.90 both cost more than our 2 weeks at $14.99 too, but if you want a plan that stops after 3 days, only they sell one.

For a fixed amount of data, Airalo is the only one of the three that sells it: 5 GB for 30 days at $13, 10 GB at $22, 20 GB at $30. Holafly sells no buckets. Ringo Light sells no buckets either. If 5 GB for a month is all you need, Airalo at $13 is cheaper than Ringo Light's $14.99, and if you want 20 GB that lasts a month, Airalo at $30 is cheaper than our 30 days at $33.99. We would rather you read that here than at checkout.

What unlimited means at each

Airalo's unlimited for Albania gives 3 GB a day at full speed, then slows to 1 Mbps. That is enough for maps, messages and an hour or two of video; a long evening of streaming in HD will hit it. Holafly states no daily cap for your own phone and limits hotspot sharing to 1 GB a day, so Holafly is the one to pick between the two if you share data to a laptop every day, but only up to that 1 GB. Ringo Light is unlimited data at full speed for the whole 2 weeks or 30 days. Fair use policy, see Terms.

Networks and coverage in Albania

Albania has two mobile networks: One Albania and Vodafone Albania. Both cover Tirana, the main towns and the coast well. Coverage thins in the mountains: on the hike between Theth and Valbona, around Lake Koman and in parts of Llogara National Park, expect gaps on any network. Airalo rides One Albania. Holafly names both, One Albania and Vodafone Albania. Ringo Light rides a local partner network. For Tirana, Berat, Gjirokastër and the Riviera, any of the three works. Download offline maps before you head north.

Albania is not in the European Union, and it is outside EU roaming. The rule that lets an EU phone plan roam at home prices does not apply here, so an EU plan can charge a lot for data in Albania unless your carrier includes it. Check before you land: it is the most common surprise on an Albania trip.

Installation, app and support

Airalo needs its app: you buy, install and top up inside it, and that is also where its support chat lives. Holafly needs no app; it sends a QR code you scan in your phone's settings, and support is by chat on its site. Ringo Light needs no app either; the eSIM arrives by email in seconds and installs in one scan, and support is by email. Whichever you pick, install it at home before you fly and switch it on for data when you land at Tirana.

The cheaper third option: Ringo Light

Ringo Light is our own data eSIM, sold to fund the full Ringo, one plan that works everywhere with your own number ported onto it. For Albania it sells two trips, both unlimited data at full speed: 2 weeks at $14.99 and 30 days at $33.99. One payment, nothing renews, no app.

What it does not do: no buckets, no 3-day plan, no 7-day plan, no phone number, data only. Calls go over apps that use data. If you want 5 GB for a month, Airalo at $13 is the better buy. If you want 20 GB for a month, Airalo at $30 costs less than our 30 days at $33.99. If you want a plan that ends after 3 days, Airalo at $19.50 or Holafly at $19.90 sells one and we do not. For two weeks or a month of unlimited, Ringo Light is the cheapest of the three by a wide margin.
