Airalo vs Ubigi in one paragraph

Ubigi is cheaper than Airalo for South Korea at every length it sells: $25 against $29 for a week, $34 against $49 for 15 days, $49 against $69 for 30 days, and $14 against $19 for 10 GB. The two sell different things under the word unlimited. Ubigi's plans are a fixed amount at full speed, 25 GB for the week, 30 GB for 15 days, 60 GB for the month, then 2 Mbps. Airalo's Jjang plan is 3 GB a day at full speed, then 1 Mbps, every day. Over 15 days Airalo's allowance adds up to 45 GB against Ubigi's 30, so a heavy user gets more full-speed data at Airalo and pays $15 more for it. Ubigi rides LG U+ and SK Telecom; Airalo rides SK Telecom alone. Airalo sells a 3-day plan at $12; Ubigi has none. Pick Ubigi for price and a second network. Pick Airalo for a short trip or if you want full speed to reset every morning. If the trip is two weeks or a month and you want unlimited, neither is the cheapest: Ringo Light sells 2 weeks at $22.99 and 30 days at $35.99, unlimited data at full speed.

Price: the same trip at each

Priced on 25 October 2026, in US dollars, from each brand's own site. For 3 days of unlimited, Airalo asks $12; Ubigi sells no 3-day plan. For a week, $29 at Airalo and $25 at Ubigi. For 15 days, $49 at Airalo and $34 at Ubigi. For 30 days, $69 at Airalo and $49 at Ubigi. Ubigi wins every row where both sell a plan, by $4 on the week, $15 on the 15 days and $20 on the month.

Ringo Light sells three trips for South Korea: 3 days at $9.99, 2 weeks at $22.99 and 30 days at $35.99. The 3 days costs $2.01 less than Airalo's. The 2 weeks costs less than Ubigi's 15 days at $34 and less than half of Airalo's at $49. It also costs less than either brand's week, $25 at Ubigi and $29 at Airalo, so for a 7-day trip the cheapest buy of the three is still Ringo Light's 2 weeks, with a week of days left over. The 30 days at $35.99 costs less than Ubigi's $49 and Airalo's $69.

For a fixed amount of data, Ubigi is the cheapest of the three: 10 GB for 30 days at $14, 25 GB at $25. Airalo asks $19 for 10 GB and $30 for 20 GB. Ringo Light sells no buckets. If 10 GB that lasts a month is all you need, Ubigi at $14 is the better buy than Ringo Light's $22.99, and Airalo at $19 is too. We would rather you read that here than at checkout.

What unlimited means at each

Airalo's unlimited for South Korea gives 3 GB a day at full speed, then slows to 1 Mbps until the next day. That covers Naver Map, Kakao, photos and an hour or two of video; a long evening of streaming in HD will hit it, and the next morning it resets. Ubigi's unlimited is a fixed amount for the whole plan, 25 GB for 7 days, 30 GB for 15 days, 60 GB for 30 days, then 2 Mbps for whatever is left of the plan. There is no daily reset, so a heavy first week can leave you at 2 Mbps for the second. Its 2 Mbps is faster than Airalo's 1 Mbps once you are slowed. Ringo Light is unlimited data at full speed for the whole 2 weeks or 30 days. Fair use policy, see Terms.

Networks and coverage in South Korea

South Korea has three networks: SK Telecom, KT and LG U+, and some of the fastest 5G in the world on all three. Airalo's Jjang plan rides SK Telecom. Ubigi rides LG U+ and SK Telecom, with 5G, so it has a second network to fall back on. Ringo Light rides a local partner network. For Seoul, Busan, Jeju and the KTX lines between them, any of the three works. Neither Airalo nor Ubigi uses KT; Nomad does, in the full comparison.

Installation, app and support

Airalo's app is optional: you can buy on the site and install from the QR code, and the app is where top-ups and support chat live. Ubigi's app is needed for top-ups, and its monthly plans renew unless you stop them, so read the plan page before you buy. Ringo Light needs no app; the eSIM arrives by email in seconds and installs in one scan, nothing renews, and support is by email. Whichever you pick, install it at home before you fly and switch it on for data when you land at Incheon or Gimhae.

The cheaper third option: Ringo Light

Ringo Light is our own data eSIM, sold to fund the full Ringo, one plan that works everywhere with your own number ported onto it. For South Korea it sells three trips, all unlimited data at full speed: 3 days at $9.99, 2 weeks at $22.99 and 30 days at $35.99. One payment, nothing renews, no app.

What it does not do: no buckets, no 7-day plan, no phone number, data only. Calls go over apps that use data. If you want 10 GB for a month, Ubigi at $14 is the better buy, and so is Airalo at $19. If you want 20 GB or more for a month, Ubigi's 25 GB at $25 and Airalo's 20 GB at $30 both cost less than our 30 days at $35.99. For 3 days, two weeks or a month of unlimited, Ringo Light is the cheapest of the three.

How we compared, and our sources

Airalo, Ubigi, Ringo Light

We priced Airalo, Ubigi and Ringo Light for South Korea on 25 October 2026, all on the same day, in US dollars. Each rival's price comes from its own website where it showed dollars, otherwise from an esimdb.com listing, and every source and its date is listed below. Ringo Light's prices come from the catalogue our checkout charges.

We compare the trips people actually book: a week, two weeks and a month of unlimited data, and a 10 GB bucket. We read each brand's fair use and speed rules and quote them as the brands state them. We did not run speed tests, so this page makes no speed claims for any brand.

Ringo Light is our own product. We put it in the table on the same terms as everyone else, and where a rival is the better buy the page says so.

Left out: Holafly and Nomad. They sell South Korea too and are priced on the same day in the full comparison at /blog/best-esim-for-south-korea. This page answers one question, Airalo or Ubigi, so it keeps to those two and the cheaper third option. Left out: Saily. We could not read its prices for this country on 22 October (saily.com and esimdb.com refused the fetch), so it has no bar in the charts rather than a guessed one. Left out: Maya Mobile. We could not read its own prices for this country on the day, so it stays out rather than being guessed.
