Airalo vs Ubigi in one paragraph

Ubigi is cheaper than Airalo for the Netherlands at every length, and the two sell different things. Ubigi sells buckets: 10 GB for 30 days at $11, 25 GB at $19, and longer plans with a fixed amount at full speed, 20 GB for a week at $19, 30 GB for 15 days at $29, 60 GB for a month at $44, then 2 Mbps. It installs from a QR code with no app, on KPN, and its monthly plans renew unless you stop them. Airalo sells unlimited days as well as buckets: $11.50 for 3 days, $27 for a week, $48 for 15 days, $69 for 30 days, 3 GB a day at full speed and then 1 Mbps, on KPN, and you need its app. Pick Ubigi if a fixed amount of data is enough and you want the lowest price of the two. Pick Airalo if you want unlimited days or a 3-day plan. If the trip is two weeks or a month and you want unlimited, neither is the cheapest: Ringo Light sells 2 weeks at $14.99 and 30 days at $26.99, unlimited data at full speed.

Price: the same trip at each

Priced on 25 October 2026, in US dollars, from each brand's own site. For 3 days, Airalo asks $11.50 for unlimited; Ubigi sells no 3-day plan. For a week, $27 at Airalo for unlimited and $19 at Ubigi for 20 GB. For 15 days, $48 at Airalo and $29 at Ubigi for 30 GB. For 30 days, $69 at Airalo and $44 at Ubigi for 60 GB. For 10 GB over 30 days, $18 at Airalo and $11 at Ubigi. For the 20 GB class, $27 at Airalo and $19 at Ubigi for 25 GB. Ubigi wins every row the two share on price; Airalo is the only one of the two that sells unlimited.

Ringo Light sells three trips for the Netherlands: 3 days at $8.99, 2 weeks at $14.99 and 30 days at $26.99, all unlimited data at full speed. The 2 weeks costs less than Ubigi's 15 days at $29, less than Airalo's 15 days at $48, and less than either brand's week, $19 at Ubigi and $27 at Airalo. The 30 days costs less than Ubigi's $44 and Airalo's $69. The 3 days at $8.99 costs less than Airalo's $11.50, and Ubigi has no 3-day plan at all.

Ringo Light sells no 7-day plan and no buckets. For 10 GB that lasts a month, Ubigi at $11 is cheaper than our 2 weeks at $14.99. For about 20 GB over a month, Ubigi's 25 GB at $19 costs less than our 30 days at $26.99. We would rather you read that here than at checkout.

What unlimited means at each

Airalo's unlimited for the Netherlands, the Hé Hé plan, gives 3 GB a day at full speed, then slows to 1 Mbps until the next day. That is enough for maps, messages and an hour or two of video; a long evening of streaming will hit it. Ubigi sells no unlimited plan. Its week, 15 days and month carry a fixed amount at full speed, 20 GB, 30 GB and 60 GB, then 2 Mbps for the rest of the plan. Over 15 days, 30 GB is 2 GB a day; over a month, 60 GB is the same. Ringo Light is unlimited data at full speed for the whole 2 weeks or 30 days. Fair use policy, see Terms.

Networks and coverage in the Netherlands

The Netherlands has three networks: KPN, Vodafone and Odido, the old T-Mobile. The country is small and flat, and all three cover it with 4G and 5G, trains included. Airalo and Ubigi both ride KPN, so on coverage there is nothing between them. Ringo Light rides a local partner network. Coverage thins only on parts of the Wadden islands and in the Frisian countryside. For Amsterdam, Utrecht, Rotterdam and the train lines between them, any of the three works.

If your phone plan is from another EU country, you roam here at home prices within a fair use limit, and you may not need a travel eSIM at all. Travellers from the US, the UK, Canada or Australia usually pay a daily roaming fee, and that is where a travel eSIM saves money.

Installation, app and support

Airalo needs its app: you buy, install and top up inside it, and that is also where its support chat lives. Ubigi needs no app; it installs from a QR code, and you manage the plan on its site. Watch the renewal: Ubigi's monthly plans renew unless you stop them, where Airalo's plans end when they end. Ringo Light needs no app either; the eSIM arrives by email in seconds and installs in one scan, nothing renews, and support is by email. Whichever you pick, install it at home before you fly and switch it on for data when you land at Schiphol.

The cheaper third option: Ringo Light

Ringo Light is our own data eSIM, sold to fund the full Ringo, one plan that works everywhere with your own number ported onto it. For the Netherlands it sells three trips, all unlimited data at full speed: 3 days at $8.99, 2 weeks at $14.99 and 30 days at $26.99. One payment, nothing renews, no app.

What it does not do: no buckets, no 7-day plan, no phone number, data only. Calls go over apps that use data. If you want 10 GB for a month, Ubigi at $11 is the better buy. If about 20 GB over a month is enough, Ubigi's 25 GB at $19 costs less than our 30 days at $26.99. For 3 days, two weeks or a month of unlimited, Ringo Light is the cheapest of the three, and for a week our 2 weeks at $14.99 still costs less than Ubigi's $19 or Airalo's $27.

How we compared, and our sources

Airalo, Ubigi, Ringo Light

We priced Airalo, Ubigi and Ringo Light for Netherlands on 25 October 2026, all on the same day, in US dollars. Each rival's price comes from its own website where it showed dollars, otherwise from an esimdb.com listing, and every source and its date is listed below. Ringo Light's prices come from the catalogue our checkout charges.

We compare the trips people actually book: a week, two weeks and a month of unlimited data, and a 10 GB bucket. We read each brand's fair use and speed rules and quote them as the brands state them. We did not run speed tests, so this page makes no speed claims for any brand.

Ringo Light is our own product. We put it in the table on the same terms as everyone else, and where a rival is the better buy the page says so.

Left out: Holafly, Saily and Nomad. They sell the Netherlands too and are priced on the same day in the full comparison at /blog/best-esim-for-netherlands. This page answers one question, Airalo or Ubigi, so it keeps to those two and the cheaper third option. Left out: Maya Mobile. We could not read its own prices for this country on the day, so it stays out rather than being guessed.
