Airalo vs Ringo Light in one paragraph
For two weeks or a month of unlimited data across Asia, Ringo Light is cheaper than Airalo: $34.99 for 2 weeks against $49 for 15 days, and $59.99 for 30 days against $73.50. Ringo Light is also unlimited data at full speed, where Airalo gives 3 GB a day and then 1 Mbps. Airalo wins everything shorter and everything measured in gigabytes: 3 days of unlimited at $11.50, a week at $26, 10 GB for 30 days at $25 and 20 GB at $39. Ringo Light sells none of those. Airalo covers 18 countries including Laos; Ringo Light covers 20 including Australia and New Zealand, but not Laos. Airalo needs its app; Ringo Light arrives by email. Pick Airalo for a short trip, a bucket or Laos. Pick Ringo Light for two weeks or a month of unlimited at the lower price.
Price: the same trip at each
Priced on 25 October 2026, in US dollars. For about two weeks of unlimited on a regional plan, Airalo Asialink asks $49 for 15 days and Ringo Light $34.99 for 2 weeks. Airalo sells one day more; Ringo Light costs fourteen dollars less. For a month, Airalo asks $73.50 and Ringo Light $59.99, both 30 days. Those are the two rows Ringo Light wins, and they are the two trips most first visits to Asia are.
Airalo wins the short trips outright, because Ringo Light does not sell them for Asia. Airalo charges $11.50 for 3 days of unlimited and $26 for a week. Our 2 weeks at $34.99 costs $9 more than Airalo's week and lasts twice as long, which is good value if you stay two weeks and poor value if you fly home after seven days. For a long weekend in Bangkok or Singapore, buy Airalo.
Airalo also wins on buckets, because it is the only one of the two that sells them: 10 GB for 30 days at $25, 20 GB at $39, and smaller buckets from $4 for 1 GB. Ringo Light sells no buckets. If 10 GB is all you need, Airalo at $25 beats our $34.99, and we would rather you read that here than at checkout. The 10 GB chart above keeps Ringo Light's unlimited 2 weeks next to Airalo's bucket so you can see the gap; it is not a like-for-like plan.
What unlimited means at each
Airalo's Asialink unlimited gives 3 GB a day at full speed, then slows to 1 Mbps for the rest of the day. That is enough for maps, messages and an hour or two of video; a long evening of streaming or a few big photo backups will hit it, and 1 Mbps is slow enough to notice. Ringo Light is unlimited data at full speed for the whole 2 weeks or 30 days. Fair use policy, see Terms. If you stream every night, share data to a laptop, or upload video for work, that difference matters more than the price gap.
Which countries each plan covers
Asia plans differ more in their country lists than in their prices, so check yours before you buy. Ringo Light covers 20 countries: Australia, Cambodia, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Israel, Japan, Kuwait, Macau, Malaysia, New Zealand, Pakistan, the Philippines, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Vietnam. Airalo's Asialink covers 18: Laos included, without Australia and New Zealand.
So the choice on coverage is simple. If your route includes Laos, buy Airalo; Ringo Light does not cover it. If your trip ends in Sydney or Auckland, Ringo Light covers it on the same eSIM and Airalo's Asialink does not. Neither covers Nepal or Mongolia; buy a plan that lists them. If your route includes Taiwan or Bangladesh, check the Airalo list first, because Ringo Light does not cover them. In every country both cover, Airalo rides local networks through its app and Ringo Light rides a local partner network. Both work on the flight connection in Singapore or Kuala Lumpur.
Installation, app and support
Airalo needs its app: you buy, install and top up inside it, it shows your remaining balance, and that is also where its support chat lives. Ringo Light needs no app; the eSIM arrives by email in seconds and installs in one scan from your phone's settings, and support is by email. There is no balance to watch on Ringo Light because the plan is unlimited; it ends on the day it ends. Whichever you pick, install it at home on Wi-Fi before you fly and switch it on for data when you land.
What Ringo Light is, and what it is not
Ringo Light is our own data eSIM, sold to fund the full Ringo, one plan that works everywhere with your own number ported onto it. For Asia it sells two trips across 20 countries, both unlimited data at full speed: 2 weeks at $34.99 and 30 days at $59.99. One payment, nothing renews, no app.
What it is not: it is data only, with no phone number, so calls go over apps that use data. It sells no buckets and no 3-day or 7-day plan for Asia, so for a short trip or a fixed 10 GB, Airalo is the better buy. It does not cover Laos. For two weeks or a month of unlimited, it is the cheaper of the two.
